Derek M. Wagley is a licensed California attorney, certified mediator, and real estate broker with 20 + years of experience, serving clients throughout the East Bay from his Lafayette office. While Derek has experience in both civil litigation and criminal defense, his law practice focuses almost entirely on estate planning and mediation — two disciplines that share a common thread: helping people navigate life's most significant transitions with clarity and confidence.

Derek's background spans law, real estate, and dispute resolution, giving him a uniquely practical perspective on the challenges his clients face. Whether drafting a comprehensive estate plan or guiding parties toward a mediated resolution, he brings the same commitment to thoroughness, honesty, and genuine care.  Derek has been been a part of the Congress of Neutrals which provides mediation services on the day of trial for a variety of types of cases spanning from unlawful detainer, civil harassment restrainer orders and small claims matters and has met with hundreds of litigants on the day of trial, often times bringing meaningful resolution and crafting a settlement that is a win-win for the involved parties.

A proud alumnus of UC Davis and JFK School of Law, Derek has been recognized by the California State Bar and U.S. Representative Barbara Lee for his pro bono legal work — a reflection of his belief that access to quality legal counsel should not depend on one's circumstances.
